Reya’s notes on prevention

The levels of global anxiety and panic we are facing right now require unprecedented emotional robustness from us.
This is the time when our personal practices, health consciousness, and mindfulness are being put to the test.
What we do with our emotional state has a direct effect on our state of wellness.

The most important question right now is

How can I stay healthy?

Very little information regarding prevention is being offered. I would like to correct that.

I am going to keep it simple, offer you a list of actions you can take to keep yourself healthy, be your most vibrant self, and stay smart while variants of COVID-19 run their course.

If you have questions about the reasons behind these actions, or more specifics around supplements, please reach out to me directly.

Top 10 ways to stay healthy, right here, right now:

Bundle up and stay warm.

It is cold out there. Wind carries pathogenic influences and our bare skin or wet hair allow them to penetrate into our bodies. The change in the season also is a time when we become more vulnerable to ‘catching things’. Don’t leave home without your coat, even when the sun is shining.

Stay hydrated.

Drink fresh, distilled or filtered water. Drink at least 70oz per day. Power pack your water with chlorophyl, it is a gentle cleansing nutrient. I recommend Chlorofresh (can get at Pharmica or PCC).

Breathe.

Breathe in the fresh air of the outdoors. When we get fearful, we have a tendency towards shallow breathing. But we need lots of oxygen to stay healthy. Plus, conscious breath creates more space in the body. More space for calm and ease.

Make your home a sanctuary.

At our house, we have a cleansing station at the front door. We wash our hands, then wipe down our phones, keys, and other items with a sanitizing cloth. We spray ourselves with a mixture of lemon/lavender/cinnamon/clove/tea tree essential oils. This is also a spray you can take with you when out and about.

Take some vitamins:

Although I don’t normally take many vitamins, right now I am taking high doses of Vitamin C, a little bit of Lysine, Zinc, Vitamin D, Nettles and Garlic. I also take a chinese herbal formula and a mushroom tincture to enhance external immunity.

Stop eating sugar.

Just do it. Sugar tanks our immune system, leaving us in the vulnerable zone. This includes, simple carbohydrates and sugar-heavy alcohol like wine and beer. Alcohol and sugar tank the immune system.

Meditate.

Stay healthy and grounded in spite of the hysteria. Here is a grounding meditation that also fortifies the immune system. Do this every day.

Sleep.

If you are tired, take a nap. Don’t let yourself get run down. Get at least 8 hours of sleep per night. Rest. Don’t push it.

Slow Down!

We slow down and we literally slow the spread of the virus. This is the least we can do for the well being of the collective. As much as you can, take advantage of this pause and put unnecessary things in your life on hold, or let them go all together. Especially for folks living along, this can be a very inward time. Time to reassess, and resource yourself. Time to take care of your body and the space around you. Clearing, cleaning and cleansing.

Spread Love... not germs

We all know that washing our hands will minimize contact with the coronavirus. And everyone is doing a pretty good job. Actually, I am very impressed with the systems instated within our city. The department of public health is doing a great job. Seattle public schools are doing a great job. Small businesses and clinics are doing a great job. Many details are getting ironed out - not only helpful now, but will be in the future.
Don't be afraid of the world. It is no more dangerous now than it was a month ago.

"Spreading love can even help fight the virus itself - because love and connection can help strengthen our emotional health and immune systems. Humanity has a common enemy, a common cause. Let's come together, and rise to the challenge of the coronavirus with love and determination."

A grounded centered state improves the function of the immune system. Return here as much as possible (meditation practice, breath practice) Have Questions! Let me know, I can help you.

The opportunity that the coronavirus is offering us all is an opportunity to pause, reassess, re-examine, slow down, turn inward. To do this amidst the frenzy is not for the faint of heart. It will take sincere attention to notice when you enter fear, panic or anxiety, and bring your precious energy back to the moment, back to yourself. This is what I mean when I say, stay smart. We can make informed, smart decisions when we are not ruled by fear, when we are grounded. The medicine in the message is one of clearing, cleansing, and cleaning. Let the things that are not necessary fall away. In order to have the time and energy to receive the messages of this time, some things need to be let go of. Then you can ground in your own body, in this moment, at this time, in this place - and listen to the quieter messages inside that will tell you exactly what to do and when.

Follow the 10 step prescription above and you will be the stronger more centered version of yourself. As a side effect you will keep yourself and the loved one’s around you healthy.

Be smart. Be responsible. Be well.
